Kerri McLean is a multifaceted interdisciplinary creative artist working in the film, TV, theatre and audio industries as a director, actor, writer and audio artist.
Starting her career as a stage actress, Kerri has gone on to perform within a vast range of award winning, TV, theatre, radio and live art productions around the world (Poldark, Bodyguard, The Ritual, Small Island, Mandela Tales at South Bank's Imagine Festival, Radio 4's Bad Faith series, to name a few).
She set up Rolemop Arts production company in 2006, leading as Artistic Director for ten years, which saw her develop, produce and direct several theatre productions, tours and audio-visual projects (incl. Snakes and Ladders Tour, The Secret Agent, Broken Loops, Glimmers, A Fine Line Between Laughter and Loathing). Along with theatre, Kerri continues to direct for screen and audio projects (most recently directing Formula 1 drivers during 2020's Barcelona testing meet whom incl. Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettle, Daniel Ricciardo amongst others). She was winner of the New York International Festival’s ‘Overall Excellence Award’ for her production of ‘Kemble’s Riot’, which she produced and directed in 2013, off-Broadway.
Passionate about sound and music, Kerri, a trained audio producer, started out dj’ing and recording bands and musicians. Currently, she creates sound designs for theatre and film, and records radio, voice, and audio projects.
Kerri wrote her first play ‘Memories of Mermaids’ in 2014, which she went on to stage and direct. Her following script ‘Reality Check’ won Faith Drama’s Writer/Director Festival Award’ and ‘Writer/Director Audience Choice Award’ in 2016. Kerri continues writing commissions and new projects, and to date she has written several scripts for stage, screen and radio.
