Sub-Atomic Souls

The core of this London based soul/blues/funk collective is songwriting duo Alex McBain and Phil Hughes complemented by a variety of talented associates from the capital’s blues, soul and jazz scenes.

They met on the London blues jam scene and formed an instant rapport. Alex’s creative and distinctive guitar style provides the perfect foil for Phil’s dynamic and soulful vocals, sax and harmonica. They share a passion for soul-infused blues which is reflected in their writing.

They draw inspiration from the likes of Sam Cooke, Bobby Bland, Curtis Mayfield, Sly Stone, Parliament Funkadelic, James Brown, Little Walter, and King Curtis.

In 2019 the band were invited to play Radio 6 Dj Cerys Matthews' The Good Life Festival in North Wales. Currently they have several residencies across London where you can catch them, including at the iconic Ain’t Nothin’ But and Soho House.

In June 2020 the band released their eponymous debut EP available on all major streaming platforms.
