Born in Northampton, UK, James has since performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in some of the UK and the USA’s most prestigious venues and halls. He plays as an orchestral musician regularly appearing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra and English National Opera, a soloist, performing concertos on BBC Radio 3 and live from the Riverside Church in New York and an in demand session musician, playing for artists such as Sampha, Omar, Alan Darby and Gang of Youths. 

As a composer, James has written for large ensembles, over 300 drummers, at the Royal Festival Hall and is currently working on an EP as well as a collection of solo percussion and electronics pieces. 

He is also writes with the S.O.L Collective. Their debut album 'Reveries' is currently available on all platforms. 

He graduated with a First Class Honours from the Royal Academy of Music and finished his Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. He is also an alumnus at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara.
